CNG/LNG First Responder Instructor Training Program

The Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition and the Center for Transportation & The Environment is pleased to offer the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium’s (NAFTC’s) First Responder Safety Instructor Training program to First Responder agencies throughout Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The program is specifically designed to train First Responders to become NAFTC certified instructors, allowing participants to train other first responders within their departments and communities.

Participants will learn how to safely respond to accidents involving alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles, including vehicle identification, recommended first responder procedures, key vehicle and fuel properties and characteristics and vehicle components. Participants will also learn how to instruct other First Responders using the materials and procedures provided in the classroom.

This 1-day course is offered for only $50 per person as part of a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

 Participants will learn:

  • Important information needed to safely respond to accidents involving alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.
  • How to identify alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.
  • About safety features and equipment.
  • The correct ways to approach and assess an alternative fuel or advanced technology vehicle at the scene of an accident.
